Butler College of Communication Chicago Trek Experience

Sweet Home Chicago! This weekend, I had the opportunity to head home for the 3rd Annual Chicago Trek for the Butler University College of Communication sports media program!

Our trip began on Thursday with a stop at the Fox32 where we met up with former Chicago news anchor, Corey McPherrin, who showed us around his old station. We then headed to a networking reception where we got to meet amazing Butler University alumni and friends, including Paul Bronsteader, Mohsin Waraich, and Samuel Phifer.

Friday was just as action-packed after Corey set up appearances at five different locations. We began the day with a visit to the Big Ten Network studios followed by a tour of the new Barstool Sports Chicago office led by Dan Katz.

Our next stop was at WGN Radio AM 720, where we saw a newscast before visiting the NBC Sports Chicago studio and meeting Timothy Folke. Our final destination was at the Guaranteed Rate Field where we had the opportunity to hear from a panel of Chicago White Sox communications representatives and enjoy the ballgame!

A HUGE thank you to Corey, Farquhar Lee, Joseph Valenzano III, and Gabi Morando for organizing another incredible opportunity for us students to further our connections and career growth in the sports media industry.
